Laveno Mombello - Laveno Mombello, the appeal for the Pozzi Library, "Spaces should be expanded, not reduced" - - Varese News

Following the meeting on Thursday, July 17, between the Laveno Mombello Municipal Administration, associations, and numerous citizens interested in the Antonia Pozzi Municipal Library, the extended Reading Group is making an appeal regarding the future of the library service.
"Following the well-attended meeting convened by the municipal administration on July 17th and the articles recently published in the local press, we would like to make public some considerations and proposals," the group's representatives wrote. "The Antonia Pozzi municipal library in Laveno Mombello is one of the most important in the province of Varese , a point of reference for everyone, and in particular for the entire Lakes Library System ( 49 municipalities, 150,000 inhabitants ), of which it is the System Center. It has a book collection of more than 80,000 volumes , available to the public on open shelves: a cultural heritage that absolutely must be protected and safeguarded."
We are deeply concerned about the project proposed by the municipal administration , which effectively envisages a reduction in the already limited space. We need to expand it, not reduce it! The letter continues: "We fully understand the need to secure all the spaces , but we ask that the future of the Library be discussed and shared. We therefore propose establishing a working group open to the participation of majority and minority council members, technicians, library staff, schools, user representatives, and local cultural figures. We also ask that any further initiatives and bureaucratic procedures be halted, and we await a response in a constructive and collaborative spirit. We are fully available to actively participate in the search for a solution that meets the expectations of the entire population, who are deeply attached to their library."
